On my 2001 Montauk I have two accessory switches marked ACC-1 and ACC-2 on the dash. I just hooked up my compass light to ACC-2.
I noticed that on ACC-1 there is a blue wire hooked up. I couldn't figure out where it goes and nothing happens when I click on the switch. Does anyone know what this wire might do? I didn't think anything was hooked up to these two accessory switches.

GAwhale, on my 2001 Montauk, the blue wire, which is the instrument illumination power wire, is wired to the Nav/Anc switch.
BTW, I'd wire the compass illumination to the Nav side of switch. That way it's on only when you need it.

dgp-Thanx for the info.
On my boat the wires are gray on the NAV/ANC switch.
The wires are brown on the Bilge switch.
I just looked through my owners information packet again and could find nothing on these two switches or ACC-1 and ACC-2.

On my 99 Montauk there is only one accessory switch and nothing was powered off of it. The instrument lights are powered off of the nav light switch.

Is the blue wire part of the factory wiring
harness? Is it wired to the switched side
of ACC-1, or the always-hot side?
Also, ABYC codes:

Light Blue: Oil pressure sender to guage.
Dark Blue: Fuse or Switch to cabin and
instrument lights.
I'd check (at night) to see if it turns on
the instrument lights. If it does, I'd wire
to the NAV side of the running light switch.

Dick and Chuck - Thank you for the info.
I'm not much of a sparkchaser. I am bringing my boat to the dealer today for 'Over-Current Protection' warranty. See my post under Post-Classics. I will ask them. Maybe the two are related???

My instrument lights turn on when the ignition is in the on position. I switched ACC-1 on and off several times and it did nothing.

The blue wire on the ACC-1 switch is for Navigation Lights per Boston Whaler Tech Services (BWTS).
I picked up my boat from the dealer this past Wednesday. They completed the Over-Current Protection recall. They called BWTS last week, however all the Techs (plus two people from my dealer) where in meetings for the 2002 line up (something like that).
TAL Marine was nice enough to call me today with the information.

The blue wire may be the "Compass Light" power. This turns on the illumination for the compass. It is pretty hard to see this lighting except in darkness.

On my 1988 20'Outrage there is a factory installed switch for the compass lighting. I swapped the blue wire which powers the instrument lighting from the navigation/anchor light switch to the compass light switch as it seemed a more logical arrangement of systems.
