I've spent a week online, trying to find someone who "retails" LED port/starboard navigational lights that can be used to retrofit original Whaler nav lights on the Montauk and on the 1974' Whaler Revenge. Anyone know a vendor? THANKS!

I haven't seen ANY LED nav lights, and I've
been looking for some time.

I am in the marine parts and accessory business and I have never seen any either. May be a problem meeting Coast Guard brightness requirements or there might just not be enough demand to justify production.
Of course if they sold LED lights that lasted forever they couldn't sell you replacement bulbs.

You can find LED replacement bulbs that fit standard sockets. One source is at: http://www.theledlight.com/ledbulbs.html

Do a google.com search on "LED Light Bulbs" and you'll find more sources. Maybe you coould replace the fixtures with new, then substitute the LED bulbs for the incandecant ones?

LEDs aren't bright enough yet.

Actually, they may well bright enough. I'm
looking at using the BAY6H from ledlight
for a night diver-down marker light (red/white/red). My buddy Mike ran the
calculations this morning, and at 90 lumens,
it's bright enough. BTW, ledlight said they
would make it up in red if I ordered six. I
need two, Mike will probably want two more,
so I'll have two left. $34 each plus tax,
shipping, etc.

A green LED visible over 120 degrees for 3 miles? I'd have to see it to believe it. I have to admit that I don't understand lumens, though.

Does anyone know if there are LED navigation lights yet? This thread looks like it's been around for awhile.

Boater's World's latest catalog had some. Perko and others are listed.

I've been there trying to figure out how to retrofit LED's into an existing base. I much prefer the ready built ones like my dad bought (Perko's). We've tested them side by side with some knock-off perko lights dad has on his Edgewater. The Knock-off's are much dimmer than the Perko LED's at 1/4 mile.

For testing, we were even running the Perko's off a 9v transistor battery!!

Personally, I want an LED all-around white light for anchoring. Something that won't suck the life out of my starting battery. Even the new battery operated lights are coming with LED's now...
