Hello,
I am looking at a 1969 16/7 whaler that had the original wooden center console. The boat is for sale the previous owner replaced it with a new center console from Carolina skiff. The boat looks cosmetically ok. There is new Emeron paint, new leaning, post and all the dings have been filled and painted. A friend of mine did the job and I am looking to go up from my 13fter. to a 17. My problem lies this guys placement of the new center console. It looks too far forward. There seems to be no room up front.

Does anyone know what the distance from bow to center console front?
I think he moved the new console to far forward. I don't want the boat to become a shovel.

Any help would be great Thanks
Ed

You should line the rear of the console up with the stern end of the trough. You will see the round cut out to show you were the wood is in the floor just folloe that to keep your wood straight.

I am following this with interest since I want to put a new console in my Whaler (62), The current (nasty!) console is far aft of it. I would say that the front edge is about where the front of the tunnel is....

If I place it as you say tho, the cables will not really be inside of the console....

I would like more space behind the console tho...

What I mean by the rear is the side in which steering wheel is. You should line up with ths stern edge of the trough hole you will have plenty of space to pull all your gas line, steering and any wires between the tanks. You should make sure their is a cut out in the center console also to pull everything thru.
