My new 17' Alert came without running lights. I'm going to have the bow chock and running lights installed. I am not too fond of the Whaler stern light, but I think that the bow chock and Perko light perched on top of it is a classic piece. Any other suggestions for a stern light, or should I stick with the stock one? What swith is recommended for my console? What gauge wiring is recommended for the harness? What size fuse or circuit breaker should be used?

You can mount the stern light to motor's cowling and then it's not in the way and there whenever you need it.. I know the CG regs say white stern light should be highest item on boat but the Marine Patrol here in the Daytona Beach area have boats with stern lights so mounted... see page 28 of "Cetacea" and a pic of one (on an 11 Whaler) is there! Happy Whalin'.. Clark.. Spruce Creek Navy
