Have any of you ever modified your trailer to tilt? I have a little 13-footer someone told me I could have this done to my trailer for easier launching, say on a beach. Any experience or advice?thanks

bill,.. i'm sure it could be done ,especially by the some of the talented mechanical wizards that reside here.but i don't think it'd be feasible, money or time wise.most whaler trailers come that way (tilting).i'd swap for one of those...lm |

All Advise is given free of charge, therefore if anything goes wrong, I will refund your charge of $0.00, in agreement for this, you agree to hold me blameless for any accident or injury which may result as a consequence of using my free advice.Disclaimers aside, if it's anything like the little Rocket trailer we had around our house, all you need to do is to remove the first retaining bolt under the front of the U-turn in the trailer framing (between the winch stand and the bolt that actually carries the load). The retaining bolt should be replaced with a chain to catch the tilting action, and a retaining pin with secure catch to use while traveling down the road. Go to the nearest boat ramp on a nice weekend and see how the tilt trailers work, then fabricate your own. I've got a Magic-Tilt under my 15'. I seldom use the tilt function... However, it DOES help when the boat is stuck on the trailer after sitting for 4 months... |
