I installed a Yamaha digital hour meter today but need but to wire it . It's got 3 wires, yellow, green & black. Was told they plug right into the yellow, green & black wires wires from the control box {the controls}. Ok a cinch, BUT. Those wires yellow, green & black from the box are allready plugged into other yellow, green & black wires that come out of the big loom {from engine?} Theres other wires hanging there under control harness, what do i just use a test lamp find a hot, then ground the black? Any tips on this you Yammie folk? This meter is supposed to work only when engines running, so cant test it till she's floating. thanks for ANY help. Alan

the yellow wire is for ignition, the black wire is for ground, the green wire is the tach sender.the guage you have reads run time that is why they use the tach circuit.if you can't find any open connectors to plug into yamaha makes wire extensions that have a 3 way connector on the end. They come in each color you need. Pete, thanks.. I did see some open wires by the tach in yellow, black too but if that doesnt work I can get " extenders" which basiclly let me make 2 connections from the 1 wire ? Is that what extenders mean thanks, Alan |

Pete, I get it I think.. I'd plug extenders into the y,gr & blk. from the control harness, that'll give me 2 y,gr & blks females on the other end for setups like mine with tach & hour meter?? sounds right?? Alan

Pete, I got it hooked up. The boat has the Yammie digital tach installed & the extender wire must have been used beacuse each connecter had a "piggyback" in plastic sheathing up by the tach. I plugged the wires in and presto we have a digital LED reading. Wow .. very very cool to have this meter installed & working. pete, THANKS!! alan
