Has anybody ordered a forward shelter assembly and bimini top from Mills for a Katama? I am curious as to whether or not these coverings will fold down into the front of the boat because it doesn't look like the bow assemblies will clear the Katama's side console.

I have (according to original paperwork) an original forward assemply and flytop for a '74, including side curtains which have never been on. Mine both fold fore and fit in the same cover. Too bad they are mostly rotten. Figure to use them for great patterns when I can afford to do cover.

Sorry, the point was that they probably (from what I have read in posts) still ar using the same panels. My paperwork states that it is Kamama/Montauk cover.

lae,

Thanks. I know that they are supposed to fold forward but I was hoping to find someone who actually has a mills set that they have physically folded forward. I don't want to spend all of that money and then find out that the units won't clear the console.

Do you know if the forward shelter is removable? I know the biminis come right off but I am not so sure about the forward shelters.

thanks,
ron

Mine mounts in the same style bracket as the fly top. Pull the screw and lift it out.

Ron, I have a '72 Katama with the forward shelter. It does fold down onto the foredeck and is as easy to remove as the bimini. If you want I can send you pictures.

Yup, pictures would be great. I am waiting as Mills looks up the part numbers and patterns and I would really like to see what all of this looks like before I order it.

Thanks,
ron

Not to change subjects, but... I was under the assumption that "Mills" is no longer in business. I have a 13' and would entertain what they may have available if they are still in business. Thanks in advance for your thoughts.
