The following link has some pics of my troll motor setup the way the local Whaler dealer has his Montauk troll motor mounted and suggest to his customers to mount, which he does for a fee.

Used 3/16" aluminum plate cut from a pattern made of cardboard and mounted to the deck with four ss 1/4"x 3" phillip head mahine bolts counter sunk in the aluminum. Attached the troll motor bracket to the plate using counter sunk ss machine bolts from the bottom side and then attached to the hull. The Whaler dealer installs were painted to match the hull and blended pretty good. The boss said she didn't mind the aluminum look, which was good with me, because the paint will end up peeling sooner or later. I polished the plate and shot some clear coat on it before mounting it and can always paint it later.
