I have a good water stream and have replaced the theromstat but if i go higher than 1800 rpm the egines gets hot very easily any comments

water pump is probably conformed into a bent shape. It will allow it to work at slow speeds but not higher. Start there.....easy fix and like $50. If not let us know and we'll go from there with thermostats, etc but my money is on the impeller. |

Your engine has a pressure control by-pass valve which is spring loaded and at modest to high rpm (and high press) it opens and by-passed the thermostat for max cooling... if this puppy is not opening then that could account for your cooling quandry! Easy to replace (has a spring and diaphram) and it's located low on engine on stbd side if memory serves me correctly (doesn't happen frequently these days). Another candidate is the impeller as mentioned above and also the impeller (pump) housing which can get deformed if too hot!.. Happy Whalin... Clark.. SCN |
