I just found a supplier of the expanding foam used in aircraft. The Wicks Aircraft supply has materials to build kit aircraft like bi-planes. These are real planes not model planes. They sell foams to use in the wings of aircraft and expanding foam. You mix the resin and catalyst together after doing a volume measurement. The stuff expands to fill the void and is closed cell foam. If its good enough for aircraft it is probably better then the stuff in the can from the hardware stores..also it looks like its pretty cheap. see the catalog page

My Aquasport (1987) will sometimes have small pieces of foam show up in the stern of the bilge. It is grey colored, slightly heavier than other foams and almost seems like a cross between caulk and foam. The pieces that I have seen seem to contain no water. It's strange stuff, but seems impervious to water.

Try that. The place has a whole lot of fiberglass stuff including Kelvar
cloth,West Systems,foam..ect The foam is on page 23.
