I have a few beginner questions that I hope someone could help with . I have a new Ventura 16 in the garage on a trailer, and I need to paint the bottom. Does anyone have any tips for bottom painting a boat on a trailer, especially onm how to lift the boat to paint the part that is resting on the bunks? Also I am wondering as to whether I should take the opportunity now to apply a barrier coat. The boat will be in the water 7-8 months each year. Thanks in advance for any help.

I did this last summer with a strong copper-based bottom coat. Since copper-based bottom/anti-foul is very dense, the color tinting tends to settle quickly while it is applied - I stirred constantly. Anyway, I painted the complete bottom while on the trailer except where my rollers are located and let my hull rest about 1 foot from its regular resting place on the trailer. After drying, I pulled the hull forward the rest of the way and finished the job. The colors don't match perfectly, but the paint does its job.
