I posted the same message about a year ago, but I was never able to follow through with it due to a few family issues. My father is still in the process of restoring he '72 Sakonnett. He mentioned something to me about putting a seat in it out of a later model Montauk. I have been trying to find one for him for quite some time now and this year I would like to get him one for Christmas. Does anyone have one laying around in their garage or have any info on one? Thanks a lot! |

Do you mean the Pilot seat aka the RPS? On my '87 Montauk I have installed a bench seat/locker from a Carolina Skiff in the stern. It now stores the battery, life jackets, mooring lines, fenders, and paddle. I know there are some on here who would argue that I have added wieght to the wrong part of the boat but the added storage and seating area is great. I recommend it. |

Bill, I e-mailed you a potential source for seat cushion complete with wood base. I guess you may hit the lottery and find someone who has an entire pilot seat for sale. If not, you need to get the parts individually. CMI marine in sctuate Ma. may be able to help you with the tube steel swivel bars. Don't know about the molded plastic legs. Start calling! |

Andiamo: The seat that I am looking for is probably the seat that you took out of your Montauk-with the "z" legs and all-don't happen to still have it laying around, do you?? :-) BB: Thanks a lot! I'm going to have to look them up. That URL you gave me doesn't work-thanks again! |

I did not take any seats out. I still have the RPS in the boat. What I did was add another bench behind the pilot seat right up against the transom. A kind of stern locker if you will. |

I just got some photos today that show the bench in the back. I will get them scanned and send them to you although it may take a few days. |
