Short of buying a repair manual, can anyone suggest a resource for directions on repairing/replacing a water pump on a 1991 Johnson 3 cylinder 60HP engine?

Break down and buy the repair manual. It will save you bundles down the line!

Try search on www.Iboats.com for four service bulletins and waterpump kit part number that includes two upgrades and one of the service bulletins. All of these are for over heating and cylinder scuffing.

remove the shift rod pin that is located under the carbs next to the block.

remove the bolts that hold on the lower unit. usually 4 obvious ones then 2 or 3 not so obvious ones.

remove torque tab and the bolt under it that holds the lower unit to the midsection.

remove four bolts that hold waterpump housing and pry the housing off the lowerunit.

get an OMC water pump "kit" and follow direction that come with kit. you will find out that removing and replacing a water pump is very easy.

do not get other aftermarker brand water pump kits.
