I have two large areas of floor (non-skid) to repair, and the non-skid on both gunwales also needs repair. Have any of you used the Gibco Flex Molds to reproduce the non-skid pattern? Was the molding process relatively idiot-proof? Do you still have the molds and release agent - and, if so, would you like to sell them? |

Alkar, Ya learn something every day. I didn't know you could repair non skid to look like the original. After seeing this post I "googled" Gibco and learned it can be done. Where do you get the patterns and..is it expensive? Thanks...Jim |

I've seen lots of folks mention the flex mold, but I've never heard from anybody who has actually DONE it. Lots of folks go out of their way to mount other things over the top of damaged non-skid, so I'm assuming it's a bear to properly repair. I need to forge ahead with the repair, the damaged areas are too large to conceal creatively. Besides, I want the boat to look new. I'm getting the materials together, but I will not be able to actually do the reapir for several months as it's too cold outside for the gelcoat to set properly. |

There's a guy in Corpus Christi, named Kevin Shaw at Fibertex (361-991-6371) who showed me some non-skid repair material that he lays over the repaired area while the gel coat is still wet, then pulls it off leaving the non skid surface.I plan to have him do some repairs on the fuel tank cover of my OR V-20 where I've had to replace all of the underlying plywood. Thanks for the tip Rolf. I'll try him on Monday and see if he's using the Gibco mold. |

Alkar, I checked into the Gibco product last year when searching for a used 18'(in anticipation of having to fill holes) At that point Gibco did not have Whaler non skid patterns available. Try Minicraft.com for color matched gelcoat and they may have the Gibco flex mold in Whaler patterns by now. JB |

JB, I called Minicraft this morning and placed an order. They've got the whaler pattern and everything a competent person will need to do the repair. Now I just have to find a competent person to help me do the job. ;-) I'm pretty excited about giving it a try. |

I'm happy to oblige Hooter. I hope the temperature and humidity-sensitive nature of the job doesn't delay us too long. I'm itchin to get started. I'll keep you guys posted. |

Alkar, Good luck with the repair! Like Hooter, I,m most interested in how to repair a large area of floor without 'seams'. Were you able to buy a mat large enough to do the non-skid repair in 'one piece'? JB |
