I'm looking for ideas on how best to attach cushions to the thwart seats on a 15' GLS.

I have full -length foam filled cushions (NOT Throwable PFDs) that go on the seats, but blow around in the wind when underway.

I've been noodling around several ideas in my head - one is to hot glue some nylon straps to the bottom of the cushions on the sides and in the middle and strapping around the underside of the seat. This seems like a good idea to me, as there is a hollow space under the thwart seats on the GLS interior that could hold a PFD - the straps would hold the PFD up underneath the seat, as well as holding the cushion in place.

I do not want to add seats with backs (as seen on Toad21's 15' GLS (exact boat as mine) seen on Cetacea P. 50.

Thoughts? Anyone come up with a different solution?

Thanks,

Dave

I like the idea of straps under the seat, Buckda, but I don't like the hot glue part.

I would take them to an upholsterer and have him/her make vinyl straps, sewn in on one end and snapped at the other end.

I did the strap thing under the rear seat of my Outrage. I used 1" nylon strap and quick release plastic buckles like you might find on a backpack. I used 1x1 aluminum angle with a slot milled in it because it was available, a nice stainless finish washer would work fine also. We keep two spare orange PFDs back there to be sure we always have enough on board. When I layed ours out I hot glued all the intersections of the webbing into a miniture cargo net to keep things straight and then my wife sewed it together. Works good, nice clean look and keeps stuff off the deck. All my webbing came from a local fabric store. Joe

I put in brass grommets and then used thin bungee cords.
