Good Evening all,
I've recently removed my gas tank due to leaking, While the tank is out I would like to clean up the part of the Bilge that was covered by the tank and supporting wood. Underneath I found A huge quanity of grease and oil....mixed with gas. I've flushed it out, picked up as much of the oil globs as I could and then even power washed it...I've tried Comet,Bon Ami,Dawn,Simple Green,Ajax and Pine Cleaner. However, The Bilge is still stained with oil and grease stains! Does anyone have any solutions to remove this? I've run out of Ideas!!!!

I've had many grease stains where the grease from my motor drips down the transom, and it comes right off when I use starbrite deck cleaner and a stiff brush. Just squirt some on full strength, brush it on and let it sit a few seconds, and then continue to brush. It should melt away in seconds. I haven't yet had any oil stains to test it on, but it works great for removing grease.

jscuba,
I had the same problem on my 15' sport. I switched my interior lay out and remounted tank and had same problem. It took a few months of a 'ring' stain of the out line of the tank.
I kept cleaning the boat with boat soap and it eventually went away. I know detailing well so patience paid off. Remember any degreaser ( including dishwashing soap with grease cutters ) remove any wax you may have busted your hump to install. So harsh chemicals have a down side. Good Luck !
