We have an '03 Montauck 17 with the 2 standard 6.5 tanks. Obviously this is not enough gas as my pappy used to say " swab, the only time you have too much gas is when your on fire". I know that Pate has the 27 gallon tank and there are others out there. What are every ones preference who have upgraded the tank on the Montauck and why?

It seems to be a mixed bag on this forum. Many have Pate or Tempos. I suggest you try doing a search using keys words such as "Fuel tanks,Tempo, Pate..."

You will be able to read through many posts discussing this popular topic.

If you go plastic, I have heard from some folkes they prfer the Moeller brand over the Tempo, they said it seamed the plastic was thicker and thus less prone to seam blowouts. Jack.

I put in the big Tempo last summer and it seems to bulge out quite a bit on the sides. Also the fuel gauge is a joke compared to the ones in my old metal ten gallon tanks. It was before I discovered this forum and wish now I had known about the Pate tank, which looks to be a superior unit from photos I have seen of other forum member's boats.

I have a Tempo 28 in pretty good shape and am replacing with Pate. The tempo is a great price but it does seem to bulge out and reading the fuel accurately is a joke. I have broken 2 gauges already going through big waves. Can't wait to get the pate installed.
