The bottom of my engine bracket has rubbed a bit of the surface of the transom. I'm raising the engine a bit. Do I need to put some epoxy, marine tex or something on that area or just leave it be?

My mechanic says that the fiberglass is still solid and that water won't penetrate so don't worry about it.

It terms of magnitude of chafe, I would say it has removed some of the white outer layer and the top of the aqua blue fiberglass can be seen. I haven't removed bracket to see how much area is covered but my guess is two areas 1/2 inch by 2 inch. Thanks

They make a liquid gel-coat patch for about $6 at any boat store. getthe buff white and fill it in, real easy and strong.

Dunno! But if you hit something it may have cracked it years ago and now it is finally coming lose, etc. Just fill it and forget it. The patch looks like a tube of crazy glue.
