I removed old numbers and they have discolored the gelcoat. I did get all the old adhesive off. I have sanded the area with 220 - 400, but the stained number area won't go away. I don't want to sand through the gelcoat. Any ideas on how to remove this stain or is sanding the only way ? thanks, Dave

Dave,I had a similar spot where someone replaced the BW harpoon logo on my 18OR. What you may be seeing is the original gelcoat color that was protected from sunlight by the old letters - the surrounding areas have lightened from exposure ? JB |

I agree with babysitter, you are seeing the original color of the gelcoat. How's your project coming along? I would be interested to hear how the Evenrude is performing after a tune up. Have you had the boat in the water yet? |

Not in water yet. I am putting all new wood now. Still ahead: Varnish, White 3 piece rubrail, install, wiring, transom filler, motor mounted, steering system. Still much to complete. It will probably be June before I will be close to done. |
