Topic:   Nasty Orphan Bolts

posted 04-15-2003 01:08 PM ET (US)         The previous owner drilled some cheap "stainless" bolts through the sidewall of my 15 Sport CC to hold some long-gone piece of equipment. A nice network of cracks has developed around the inside face of these holes, and rust has migrated through them by capillary action. I have some Spectrum Gelcoat patch on order. Do I need to Dremel out the cracks before patching? How Do I get the rust stains out? Muriatic acid?
