Hi
I have a 1969 13' Sport and want to add a bimini. iboat.com sells one 61-65'' width for $250. However, Boston Whaler CS told me I had to buy a special one from Mills who have patent for side mount due to no wood on gunnel. Does anyone have any suggestions such as mounting on side rails. The Mills is much more expensive $550.
thanks
tom

Taylor and Taco both make fittings that allow you to attach a bimini to handrails. They would replace the fitting that mounts to the deck or gun'l.

I have a bimini on my 1975 13 and had the foot brackets/brace mounted to the top of the decks port/starboard. Are you not able to do this on the 69 models?

I also don't have any wood on my side gunnels. The foot brackets are screwed into glass. I also have eyehooks on the gunnels towards the bow and stern to attched the bimini tethers. Not having wood in the gunnels doesn't seem to be a problem.

Hey if you want my bimini, I'll sell to you. It's in good condition. I used to you it when I lived in Louisiana but I haven't found much use for it hear in the Northeast. I'm not sure who the manufacturer is but it works perfect on my 13. Let me know if your interested and we talk price.

Thankyou for the advise, I would have liked to buy a used bimini but have already paid for new one. I am planning on attaching it to side rails and will check out taylor for brackets.

thanks
tom

Boaters World sells stainless steel brackets that attach to the side rails and do not require drilling holes into the rails.

Add a 3' or 4' section of bimini track on either gunnel, and attach the track with 3M 5200 + half a dozen screws into the fiberglass. Between the 5200, and the half dozen screws, it won't simply "pull off", and you get the added bonus of being able to shift the top around to move your shade.
