mag	posted 05-06-2003 09:42 PM ET (US)         I have a 1978 175 HP Johnson. This motor does not have regulated voltage, and so I have burned-out 3 Teleflex tachometers. Anyone else have the same problem with tachometers? Also in case it helps, I cut the third one apart and found that only a 25 cent zener diode needed replacing. I upped the power rating on the zener, and so far it is working ... mag
Sal DiMercurio	posted 05-06-2003 11:48 PM ET (US)             Mag, i'v had a terrible time using teleflex tachs on omc engines. The correct number for an omc engine on the back of the tach is #6, but for some reason or other, teleflex tachs don't always listen. I'v finally gone to just using omc bomb tachs on omc engines with no problems. Sal
