Hello,

Does your cuddy cabin leak rain water? I have the Outrage 25 Cuddy and I've noticed a small amount of water will leak through the seam during heavy rains...The water will collect in the forward bilge...More of a nuisance than a major problem, has anyone had a similar problem and fixed it?

Homey -

Give me a few days to look in my files. There was a factory published fix that I've scanned and sent out to another member.

It just called for prying open the flexable stip on the outside, between the upper shell and the hull with an object that would not cut the strip (in the sketch, they used a wooden tongue depresser, if I recall right) and laying in a bead of silicone.

If you do it, lay down a piece of masking tape, just about the seam, to make removal of excess caulk easier.

Don,

Thank you for the reply, Do you think that would stretch out the flexible strip?

I also have a 25 ft. Outrage Cuddy and would appreciate any information on the re-sealing procedure. Thank you in advance.

Greetings,

I have an Outrage 25 Cuddy. I have found that the water getting into the forward bilge, comes from the bottom of the bulkhead of the cuddy. I used silicone and it seems to work.

No leaking from the topside of the cuddy, but I have noticed that water shed from the topside finds its way down the gunwale seems and along the front of the bulkhead (Did that make sense?).

In short, no leaks from the plastic strip.

Anyway, silicone has worked for me.

Don,

Could you please send me a copy of the "fix" also?

Thanks,

Andy

Andy- I should have my 25 ft. Outrage in the water within six weeks. We should get our boats together and mate them-- with what I will have in this boat I may need to sell some offspring to keep afloat!

Royce,

We can get our boats together anytime you want.
But I get pick of the litter!

Yes!
Just found this thread as trying to figure out best solution to this problem. My new [1992 OURAGE 22 CUDDY] has more than a small leak: after 2 weeks sitting with the forward plug left in and average Anchorage weather, the entire recessed area in the cuddy was full of water!! Water up to the level of the cushions; more than a nuisance now, since everything I had stored in that area is soaked or ruined. Lesson learned, but what is the best way to fix this? Take weather strip off all the way around the cuddy and re-seal? I am curious what the factory fix was as well, especially since my boat was one of the final production years for this model. Thanks!
