Trying to determie how I'm going to layout my 79 13' sport. I was hoping to get some feedback from anyone that has put a standup center console in a 13'. My father & I keep this boat at the river house and have talked about how much better this boat would be for our uses if it had a center console in it. I know carolina skiff manufactures the console has anyone here tried it? If so how does it perform?

Thanks

FL

I made my own, it is not perfect looking but, it works great. I made it in one afternoon. I could have took some time in my Dad's woodshop and done it nicer but, duck season started the next weekend and I was in a hurry to finish. It is not a true stand up height but, I made it an "in between height". I moved it forward about four inches from the stock console location. I raised it so it is comfortable to steer in a sitting or standing position. I left the controls in the stock position and they are still easy to reach. When I have a passenger I just scoot over a little and it is still easy to reach the wheel and controls. Send me your email and I'd be happy to send you some pictures.

Carolina consoles are your best bet for under $200. Being all the Marine surplus places in FL, I would personally shop there and get one from say a Logic or whatever they have. Look around.

It is right in the top of every post. To the right of the date.

I've seem a 13' that had a Newport console in it. It was really cool, the owner is a poster on this site "tgresla", I have a few pictures of his boat, want me to send them to you?

I have the 1973 13' with a Newport center console. I have to admit I really like being able to stand and drive and I am very happy with the layout. My only complaint is the previous owner who did the install put the pedestal seats too far away from the console. The original Newport bucket seats were shot so I had a bench cushion made for the front of the console. It looks better than the original.

Fellow Mid Ga Whaler!
I have a console (new) from the Sundance Skiff company in Waycross. I was planning to install it in a 15 sport. But will probably not change the wood in the sport. I am located in Warner Robins. If you want to look, let me know. $150 (thats what I paid). I also have some Whaler rail stuff that I am selling. Call me at 478-335-0527
