I refinished the woodwork and removed all the door hardware... I can not find the small brass door catch for the console side door. Anyone have one or know where to get a replacement? Thanks |

Those brass ball catches are fairly ubiquitous. You can probably get them at the nearest hardware store. Among numerous online sources is Rockler, the hobbyist woodworker’s store. See: http://www.rockler.com/ecom7/showdetl.cfm?offerings_id=144&objectgroup_id=38&catid=20&DID=6 I’ve got a small bin full of them in my shop, so if you can’t find them locally, send me your address and I’ll mail you a pair. |

If there is one in your area, both boater's world and west marine sell exact replacements. I believe they are make by perko (the replacements). If I remember correctly, they cost between 4 and 6 dollars for a pair depending on where you find them. One thing I will add, is that I have never been able to find replacment ones that use stainless springs. One reason that the doors keep falling open more frequently over time is that the springs behind the little ball bearings rust out. I have found that placing a little dab of grease in with the springs does significantly increase their lifespan. if anyone out there knows where to get catches with stainless springs or where to buy some stainless springs which could be cut down to use as replacements, please let all of us know- |
