Author	Topic:   early to mid 80's merc wireing question.
wayne baker	posted 07-23-2003 04:00 PM ET (US)         Just bought a mid 80's in line four 50hp engine. just under the starter silinoid there is a sqruare electical something mounted to the motor. Attached to this I find a red and brown wire attached. These wires run back to the wireing harnessans and are on seprate post. I also find two wires attached to two other post that are rotted off down to the connectors. I can not find another end for these wires. Does anyone know what these two wires might go to? I also find it strange there is no other signs of corosion under the cowl on anything else.
wayne baker	posted 07-23-2003 11:14 PM ET (US)             Looked at the part again in information gathering frame of mind. There are only three post to accept wire connectors and the one that has the red wire on it has a + sign by it. I still do not see what this thing controlls.
