We are the proud new owners of a 1979 V-22 Revenge. As I was cleaning the boat up I noticed that the live well drain tube that passes through the bottom of the hull is misisng (Yikes!). I hope that you can help me locate a source that sells such a long drain tube. I am guessing that the replacement drain tube will be pvc. My plan is to seat the new drain tube with 5200 . . . does this sound reasonable? Thanks in advance for your advice. |

I'v never used the pcv tubes, just the brass ones. You can get the brass one from your Whaler dealer or buy a long one from West Marine but you will have to cut it no matter who you get it from. You will need a special flaring tool if you go with the brass ones. Yes, by all means, seal the crap out of it, inside & out & the whole tube. Just be sure you cut it long enough to put a good roll on the ends & make it "TIGHT". Sal |

Thanks, Sal. I like the idea of using brass but have never flared a tube that large or in such a way that it seats itself between layers of fiberglass. I live in Juneau, Alaska and (sadly) we do not have a Whaler dealer in town so I will most likely do the work myself. I will check out West Marine for that brass drain tube . . . hopefully they will also sell the flaring tool. |

losebyclan, If you plan to go with the brass thru hulls, try Twin Cities Marine and talk to Sue Lodel - 888-894-2537 http://www.twincitiesmarine.com/. I bought the tubes and flaring tool from her and you would think I was ordering a new Whaler instead of just some replacement parts. Parts were shipped to my door in just a few days. I can't imagine a more accomidating, customer service oriented rep. or company. She sent instructions as well as making sure I ordered o-rings, and sealant. Go to this sites search function at http://continuouswave.com/htdig/ . Do a search on "Thru hull replacement" or "Drain tube replacement" or some variation on these and for tips and info on the process. Good Luck, |
