i am seeking suggestions on purchasing a bimini top for my '69 nauset (i think), 16'7" whaler. i can get a custom made one locally for around 700.00. the ones i've found on the net are 250-300. thanks, steve

The $700 sounds high. I had a custom made Sunbrella cover made for my Sakonnet for $550. The shop said the price for a new bimini would be about the same with all new stainless bows when mine needs replacing.

Just picked up a sport 13... would like as much sun coverage as possible.. i think the standard would be a 3 bow, but am wondering if there is any good reason i can't put a 4 bow on it.?

3 or 4 bow does not necessarily mean larger. On a 13' I would not go too big, get a good headwing or squall kick up and it will flip a light boat.

I'm searching also for a Bimini top for a '98 Montauk.

Anyone know a contact for the Bimini tops Whaler used on the Montauks? I'm sure they are pricey, but I still have some hardware on the boat from the original top and it would make it easier to go back factory if the cost isn't too much.

Thanks,
KDW

Just bought a Taylor "Economy" version top 42" h. x 6' long x 62-77" adjustable width for my 15. Aluminum frame (fairly sturdy) treated nylon top (kinda cheezy, but servicable) $169 from Boat/US store here. Figured when the top material gets worn (shouldn't be too long), I'll have a sunbrella copy made for the frame...
