I hope some one can tell me the thickness of the front thwart seat as well as the recess length under the side boards. There was no front thwart on the striper model.

We just put a thwart in front of our striper console. We used a 12inch width as this matches closely the length of the available riser to rest the seat on. The thickness depends on type of wood, density of grain, and expected application weight. We used knot free cabinet grade pine stained to match the mahogany. Routing the edges is a must. The thickness is 3/4 inch and this still has some spring but that is a nice thing in 2ft chop. 4-5 coats spar varnish. For a single person it has some nice cushioning spring but is firm enough to not sag. We found a short plastic 5-gallon type pail that fits perfectly under the middle to help support really heavy loads (2-3-adults). Cost $40.00-we went with pine because I considered adding some fine sand to the top coat varnish to form a non-skid surface.

On our 1980 Striper 15, only the starboard side has a wood riser attached to the hull. The left side has nothing.

When you added the seat, I assume you also added a short riser to the port side of the hull? Or did yours come with a riser already there?
