My 20' Guardian came without a front storage well through hull drain. The sump and well are the same shape as the OR, so I plan to drill through and install a drain.
Can someone measure the location of the exit hole on their OR or Guardian ? How far up from the keel is it located ?
Is the wall of the sump and hull paralell ? What is the approx. length of the OEM drain tube ?
Thanks, Jim

Jim,

I just replaced my rear bilge drains on my 22 and it was a disaster for me. Part of it I could have avoided now that I know what went wrong, but it is not easy. Primarily because the surfaces are not always parallel. If you insist, get the plastic replacement drains with zip threads. Twin Cities has them and their phone # is on this forum.

Beyond my personal trial, I would say that I was suprised at how the screws on the Perkos and the drains leaked, especially when they look fine on inspection. The Achilles Heal of Whalers, IMO, is the potential for water ingress from these drains. To add additional ones is asking for trouble in my mind.
