Is it a good idea to change the original color of your engine in my case, a Johnson grey to white. My outrage is at the repair shop and I told the guy who's working on it that I wanted to paint the engine also, he suggested to change the color from grey to white. Let me know what you think. Thanks, Maria

Well....they only made grey Johnsons one year, 1984. The paint is still available from Tempo. In order to change the color much more is involved than a quick sand and shoot. You should remove the engine, clean thoroughly, tape, etc. |

Hey Big, I have a '99 Johnson 90hp and a '00 Johnson 115hp, both are grey and factory original paint ??? I also have a '99 Johnson OceanPro 115hp but in white , looks identical to grey motor except color and the added OceanPro decal. Sarge |

No....yours are silver. 1999 they had the dark silver bronze color that everyone hated so they went lighter in 2000 I think. Most larger models were also available in white. In 1984 they were all grey, just like a navy grey. Pretty darn ugly when faded but grows on you when nice and shiny. I had a 1984 60hp on my 79 15' sport.....great combo. |
