Can anyone tell me what the right size screw is for reinstalling rails on a 16-7 1970 hull. All I have is the rails, I don't have any of the screws. They look like they should be oval head, were the originals sloted or phillips? Are they #12 head? What's the right length? Any info greatlt appreciated.

George,

The screws used to secure the rails on a 1970 model 16'-7" hull would have been stainless steel #10 x 1" slotted oval head sheet metal screws.

By the late 1970s Whaler used all Phillips head screws.

Tom,

Info greatly appreciated, the 1 inchers bit in well, and are solid as a rock. 10's are a perfect fit and I never liked working with phillips head anyways.
