I have a 225 hp Suzuki on my 22' Revenge and I am looking for some additional gauges which were not installed when I bought the motor in 1998. The guage of primary interest is the trim guage with sending unit. The local dealer in Portland is talking about $300 and that seems like a lot. Is this reasonable? Anyone have a recommendation on another dealer to talk to?

Three hundred dollars for a trim gauge? Now I see how Suzuki is paying for those six-year warranty promotions.

You can get a generic trim gauge (for a Mercury for example) for about $25 at any marine parts store. I would imagine that there must be something out there for Suzuki brand engines.

Perhaps the engine does not have the trim gauge sender installed. That might account for the high cost quoted to you.

I think I paid around $70 for my trim gauge when I bought my new motor 9 months ago. Try contacting Suzuki for another "local" supplier near you or do an online search for Suzuki outboard parts dealers. I am certain you will find a better price.

If you know the resistance of the trim sensor you can match it up to a gauge. I wanted to install a Mercury analog gauge on my Mercury 225 4 stroke and was told by Mercury parts tech support Mercury didn't have a gauge that would work, so apparently all are not interchangable. Yamaha 225 4 stroke and Mercury 225 4 stroke sensor resistance is 9-11 ohms down and 247.6-387.6 and work with a Yamaha gauge. If you have that resistance range from your sensor you can use a Yamaha Gauge. Most parts dealers will not take back electrical parts so you need the do a little research. Your dealer will have a manual that will tell the resistance Suzuki has.

Thats 247.6- 387.6 ohms with the motor up.

I buy all my Suzuki parts online at http://store.brownspoint.com

They are always cheaper than local dealers, and no tax. You can also call them at 800-338-0645
