posted 05-16-2004 08:07 PM ET (US)         Repowering an '83 Montauk which had an '83 Merc 90 on it. Replacing the Merc with an '86 Mariner 90 with the trim/tilt located on the mounting bracket. The main difference between the two is that the newer Mariner motor mounting bracket has a new set of holes (the lower holes put bolts under the transom well). Looking to see if any Montauk owners have installed an '86 Mariner 90 with a standoff bracket. If so, what model/make/specs? And did you run into problems with the steering cable as a result of being set back from the regular transom location? Thanks, Kris
