Just picked up a fixed jackplate (tj marine). It has 3inch vertical off set and 4 inch set back. It will go on a 64-13ft bw. My question is does the motor have to sit right on the top of the jackplate or can I raise it so that the motor top doesn't rest on the jackplate? Also, has anybody used this type of fixed jackplate and any tips on installation. Thanks!
Rob

Many use it and I would install where engine is laying on the plate and sits good. That way if you raise all the way up and need more(I did), you can still raise the engine up on the plate. You may be amazed at how high you can go, don't blow out though or you will starve it of water.
