I have read the excellent article on installing a Bimini on a classic 15, so now I'm trying to picture what will work out best in the long run. Do I mount inside, outside, or directly onto the side rails on my 2000 Sport 130? The answer, unfortunatly, makes a difference in the size bimini I buy due to the way the various brands size their tops.

I'm a bit worried about going outside of the rails because I certainly don't want the thing to hang out past the rub rail, although this seems like the obvious answer.

Anyone have any recent experience? The local dealer (who I did not buy my boat from) seems reluctant to even speak to me, since I can't even get a price for a top out of them.

I have seen some dealer installations of sun tops on the 130 SPORT where the frame of the top was attached to a hinge that was located on the upper surface of the side rails. This looks like a workable arrangement when the top is up, but once you lower the top, the frame binds against the railings and stows very awkwardly.
