Wanchese	posted 06-17-2004 10:14 AM ET (US)         I recently purchased my first boat, a 1974 Nauset. The boat is in pretty good shape overall. The top edge of the transom, however, shows a thin border of exposed wood. Is this normal and part of the original design? Should I coat it with something to prevent possible rot? Any input will be greatly appreciated. John
