I am in the process of taking the exisiting center console out of my 1973 17' whaler. It has a OMC throttle and shifter mounted on the side of the console. To remove the console I need to remove the cables from either the motor or the shifter control at the console. I am thinking it would be easier to remove them at the motor. Any advice?
Thanks

Danny,

The easiest way is to let the cables go at the motor end. But you have to pull through the tunnel. This may not be bad though, as it should be fairly easy. At the same time the control box is a simple removal as well. Just a little bit more tedious.
