i was drilling holes in the floor of my 13 sport, to mount cooler tie downs, and when the drill bit made it all the way threw the fiberglass i could hear air escaping out some of the holes. has anyone else had this happen before.

It's likely you have some amount of air pocket between the foam and deck at that location and the boat was heating up causing the air to expand. Your post makes it sound like this happened at more than one location which could only mean the cavities are not connected. Usually, the quantity of air comming out has some relation to the size of cavity or how much the boat is heated up. That's hard to tell from here. Check for soft spots in the deck near the holes. If this turns up nothing and the deck feels solid, the cavity(s) may be closer to the hull bottom but this is not likely. I once had this happen drilling holes for my fishfinder transducer on the stern but some water came out as well. I allowed this to drain and just plugged it.

I'm sure others could lend more/better response as well.

Good luck! Smirk.
