I am installing a new Tempko gas tank under the cosole seat of my stock 1984 Montauk. This new 13 gallon tank is approximately 15 inches high and I have about 14.5 inches clear under the seat. Does anyobody have any words to the wise about how to raise the seat to get the necessary clearance? What kind of shims are recommended and how much higher can I safetly raise the seat.

Many thanks for your replies!!!!

Does the tank have the "low profile" cap? The low profile is like 2 inches, the standard is like 4 inches. The new cap will get you the space you need.

Do a search on "raise RPS" and you will find all the options in materials and fastning.

BassPro has the low profile caps for the Ultra PBW13...they are a good inch or more lower than the higher caps.

I also thought Tempo changed the height specs on the Ultra PBW 13 to reflect the lower profile caps and now sells the tank with them...If so you may be able to get the caps for free depending on where you got it.
