I am insalling my bait tank on my 17 Montauk Whaler and am wondering if any of you ever put a thru-hull bait pump pick up thru the hull in the bottom of the area where the bilge is located. I am thinking I can drill through the bottom just behind the bilge pump under the samll piece of teak plate that covers the wire bundle and the bilge. Anyone ever put a brass thru-hull clam shell pick up on a Mantauk?

Bad Idea. I put the pump and all on my transome, and hard piped the fill line for the live well to a tank that sits in front of the center console. I would not be drilling holes through the foam, especially near the keel. It seems like a nice high pressure place for water to intrude into the foam.

I agree do not break the integrity of the foam.
