After 8 years of use the T2400 powerwinch motor is a smoker and groaner along with the cable being a nasty thing to handle. Contacted Powerwinch to find a source for a new motor and a very pleasant lady, Coleen Rowe (CRowe@powerwinch.com)informed me the replacement parts can be ordered directly from her. Question is has anyone ever used the pully block and hook system with their winch. I know it may seem like overkill for pulling an 18' Outrage on to a trailer, but because I don't bury the trailer the winch motor has always worked pretty hard. Basically the pully block system gives you twice the pulling power of a single cable pull.

we use to have a 18 ft. starcraft,at aprox 2500 lb. and used a power winch in the 1970's after the first month, went to the pully, much easier pull on the motor cut the winch speed in half, still beats hand cranking, we would keep the wheel bearings just out of the water so the winching distance was about 16 feet. This saved much wear and tear on the trailer itself (salt water) winch was still going strong when we sold the boat in 1987.

I have a Powerwinch 912 that I don't use anymore. It could use a new cable, but is otherwise in fine shape. Shoot me an email if you want before you drop the dough on the new motor.

Newt, thanks for the offer, the winch is in very good shape except for the motor and cable. Considering the replacement cost today of around $450.00, investing $90.00 for the new motor and $37.00 for the cable would be the best investment.
Thanks for the reply's.

I use the 700 series and the motor went after about 8-9 months, called PowerWinch and they gave me instructions for shipping for repair. Before I could get the rebuilt winch installed, a supervisor called me asking how I used the winch and "IF" I used the pulley. Told him no, he said that even though I was within the weight specs, I should be using the pulley if I wanted to get longivity out of the winch. That was in 90-91. I started using the pulley/snatch block and I am still using the winch. I did replace the needle bearings one time.
