We would like to restore our '86 to as near original as possible. We called Sue at Twin Cities who said that she could order the gas can mats in the original brown color (rather than the current gray) if she got enough orders. So if anyone out there needs new mats and would like brown, please call Sue and let her know.
Also, we have had no luck finding the op\riginal white battery box - apparently, from the responses we get, a lot of other people are looking too. We have an original box and were wondering if anyone had looked into having these made. The one we have could be used to make a mold.

Welcome to the forum, folks. You will find the information contained here invaluable in your restoration project! Your first question, I believe the c.1986 Montauk had red tank mats, not brown. They are just soooo oxidized that they look brown.

I would also be interested in a group 24 dessert tan battery box if you can replicate them. That sounds like a fun project!

I guess it depends on price. I need a set of $150 tank mats like I need a hole in the head

A different color battery box would be nice I guess
