Currently my bimini, when closed and in boot, lies outside the bow and forward side rails. Is it possible to add stainless aft struts to hold it up in a diagonal position pointing aft, similar to that on the 170 Montauk?

Certainly. On my 15' Sport, I have adjustable aft struts to hold it up out of the way while open or closed. The struts are adjustable because the bimini is on 48" of slide track. |

Thanks, where2. Please tell me, is your 15 footer a 90s boat like my Montauk and have a bimini that -- when resting forward -- sits outside the bow and side rails? Also, did you install the aft struts base hardware in locations that have wood under the fiberglass to insure secure holding? If so, how did you locate the wood base locations? Finally, is lateral sway not a concern when the bimini is in its boot and you're underway in rough seas, or do you have some additional support configuration that insures it's not a problem? Thanks for your help. |
