Has anyone seen or used aluminum or diamond plate aluminum deck material for the replacement of the original plywood laminate deck?

Seems to me you have a GREAT idea there.
My deck is ok but the degrading has begun. I need a full set of hatch covers. They may cost more than a sheet of alum. Hope you dont mind if I ride along here.
I have plenty of ideas & every tool Id need but probably should wait for the experts analysis.

I have seen 22's with Diamond plate fuel tank covers / decks. You can see in my reference article I rebuilt the deck but I have an outrage. If I was to redo the deck on a Gaurdian that was a beater work boat I would consider going the route of Diamond plate.

Jeff, Ive visited your deck repair thread more often than any other on this site. Would you mind if I download a couple of your progress photo's for inspiration & reference?
Personal use only guaranteed.
Compared to yours, my 22 USN Seals Divemaster will always be a "beater"...it has a BUNCH of non-magnetic fitted, painted alum & ss CPD options stem to stern. Even the gunwales have 3/16 alum fitted over them fwd midships to stern approx same location as your mahogany gunwales.
Do you think a light sand blasting on these parts (no idea what grit) would blend in with Dans alum deck idea & hinged alum dive doors (60"). Ive become allergic to hand sanding/polish. Instead of looking Military, it will look Industrial...hehe.
I planned to name it after my 9 yr old Daughtor, "MERILEE" but BORIS may become more appropriate.

My fathers Gaurdian sounds much like yours only with out the dive door. It is also full of the Government Issue scratch and dents.

I am sure the sand blasting would work to brighten the gunnels however, the problems becomes keeping them clean and unpitted. It would take a weekly waxing of paste wax to keep them in good condition.

After seeing these photos of the deck repair I think I'd rather pay a fab shop to cut a sheet of 1/4"-3/8"diamond plate or apply adhesive non-skid tape to a smooth sheet. Spot weld 3/4 " deep stiffeners to the underside port to starboard at 18" centers to help with weight deflection. I think it would be half the weight of the original deck plate and be very workboat like. After taking apart my 1988 Guardian I can see these boats were built well but not designed to last forever. If they were built to last 30 years + they couldn't sell more of these boats in the future.

Today (hehe, subject to change) Suzuki DF 140 4 strokes head the list. sigh, $21k so I'd like to be sure they arent overkill or open a can of worms.
410 lbs ea. 2.38:1 gears.
fwd console, bats will be moved fwd (6ga welding cable).
Thx so much for your (& Tom C) time to help me figure it out, address & a couple 22 pix are forthcoming.

Dan, you probably know,
alum is runnin near $3.00 lb right now.
4' x 10' diamond tread ballparks $590 (approx 200 lbs).
I estimate our glass deck weighs 300 lbs, Im sure Jeff has more intimate knowledge...hehe. Come to think of it, weigh scales are right next to my Biz site (boom truck). I will try to remember to get before & after weight.
My Tug has 1/4 alum decking fitted in the eng room on 24" centers (not fastened to allow quick access/cleaning).
Im packing 230 ok, 240 & the decking flex's a little.
To be safe, eliminate flex, Im not going any more than 16" centers.
