I have a '93 Dauntless and even with the plug in the thru hull fitting, water is getting into the boat and accumulates up to the center console compartment. The boat is getting heavy in the back as it is absorbing more water. The floor is now feeling spongey. I have installed the correct plug but it is not preventing the sea water from entering and now the boat is becoming heavy in the rear as well. I am considering applying epoxy to the hole to permanently prevent this problem. Any other suggestions?
Thank you.

Hello-

I owned a Dauntless 13. At anchor, I had a problem with water entering through the scuppers and running forward if someone was in the front fishing seat. It was not much water and did not present a problem..just a minor inconvenience. It ran out when we got underway and never made the hull spongey.

Chuck bennett at Whaler sent me a pair of rabuds that I installed over the scuppers which corrected the problem.

it sounds like your problem may be more extensive. If your floor is spongey, I suspect you might have a more serious problem. The hull might need special attention to get it dried out properly.

I would email Whaler for advice.

Good luck.

David
