I recently purchased a 15 foot side console 1981 Whaler...
I have a couple of repair questions....
1. What is the best treatment for the console/seats etc...I bought this for my son and plan on restoring it this winter...I want the most durable/maintenance free treatment for the wood...

2. Suggestions on how to fix bow rail rattle? Set screws are fully tightened.

Thanks for any help

There is a good article on wood finishing in the REFERENCE section. No wood finish is mantenance-free. Multiple coats of varnish over epoxy seems like the best choice.

Repair of loose rail bases is covered in the FAQ.

I agree with Jim - tons of information on wood finishing including mine. Don't scrimp, take time, read the stuff budget for high quality marine finishing materials - do not use household stuff like polyurethane for wood floors. Take your time, no short cuts and you will have a great result and new skills.

good luck!!
