I bought a V-20 and found out a number painted inside the boat (8A0493)and, as the HIN in the transom area is illegible, this is the only number to help me in knowing date of production of my boat. Can anybody help me in understanding that number?

Peter, in the FAQ (link at the upper right of the page) you'll find a discussion of these stencilled numbers. For each of my three Whalers, I emailed Chuck Bennett at Boston Whaler. He was able to tell when the boat was built, and sometimes had further information, as well, on the hull.
