I am attempting to restore about one-square-foot of damaged area of non-skid on the deck of my 1988 13-footer using gel coat, and I have been unable to confirm the correct pattern to use as a mold. Mine appears as raised tiny hexigonal dots. Having read the posts on it here and consulted with vendors my understanding of this is as follows: Gibco states there are two common Whaler styles, number 327 (small triangles) for older boats, and number 332 for newer boats. Mini Craft sells these plus supplies, but I am reading that neither is the correct pattern for my boat. This leaves me to make my own mold and do the best I can. I believe it will be hard to get a good job this way because of the size of the area.
Anybody know a solution ? Thanks.

Please let me know what u find out as i have to redo my entire non skid floor in my 17 montalk.

I have the all the Gibco samples and will see if I can find a boat with your deck and will report back with the #.

If you want to match what you have exactly I would recommend making a mold of the current non skid using liquid rubber. Decent results seemed to be achieved using this method along with a gelcoat paste repair kit. There was someone on a Cetecea page that used this method before by making a dam around the good nonskid using play doh. They then poured the liquid rubber onto the nonskid and let it dry. If you use this method you might want to treat the new mold with gibco release coating they use for there molds so it will pull off of the new nonskid freely. If it doesn't come out great on your first run, the good news is you can always sand it off and retry.
I have all the Gibco samples as well, and none of them appear to be an exact match for my 1972 thirteen. Since I am going to redo the entire nonskid surface I am just going to pick one closest to it.

I have a 1981 Newport. All of the fittings are tight on the gunnels but there are small cracks spidering out from some of them. The cracks are running through the pattern of non slip material. I wish to repair them would any of these patterns be the same as my pattern?

There was an article about using wax as a mold that I passed on to my father recently. He and the fiberglass guy played with it and results were pretty good. Wax mold with some sort of release agent. I'll look for the article when I have a few minutes.

Spectrum sells the Gibsco Flex-mold for the repair of non-skid patterns. They sell it by the square foot. Boston Whaler according to the identification chart in the spectrum catalog uses the numbers 327 or 332. I never used this but plan to do so in the future. Thank you to all for your suggestions. I now have some things to try out and Mini Craft is sending me a free sample kit of the available non skid mold pattterns for me to see for myself if any are a match. If not I will become an amateur mold maker. This is the most challenging aspect of this redo for me, since I have done a fair amount gel coat work on smooth surfaces as well as varnishing over the years. If I could find a competent pro to do it I would be tempted. I'm in Atlanta.
