Topic:   Color of Gelcoat above and below rub rail

posted 06-13-2007 12:56 PM ET (US)         I have the 2001 180 Dauntless. When I look at the hull I am noticing a difference in the color of the boat above the rub rail (white - off white) and below the rub rail more of a desert tan as I have heard it described. I am getting ready to repair a few nicks and dings and would to order the closest possible match of the gelcoat from Spectrum. Has anyone noticed this on their whaler and if so is it done by design or due to logistics of staging the build of the boat at the plant?
